Lors de notre mission exploratoire \u00e0 Pangatalan, nous avons pu observer l’embl\u00e8me de la fondation Sulubaai, la limule\u00a0(<\/i><\/span>Tachypleus tridentatus<\/i>).<\/span><\/div>\n
Comme le c\u0153lacanthe et le nautile, la limule est une esp\u00e8ce panchronique (observ\u00e9e actuellement et qui ressemble morphologiquement \u00e0 des esp\u00e8ces \u00e9teintes). Pour cette premi\u00e8re observation nous avons eu la chance d’observer leur reproduction. Compl\u00e8tement enfouit dans le s\u00e9diment nous avons cru photographier un individu avant de nous apercevoir qu’ils \u00e9taient en fait deux. Ces arthropodes marins, appel\u00e9s\u00a0<\/span><\/span>horseshoe crab en anglais pour “crabes fer \u00e0 cheval”, ne sont pourtant pas des crustac\u00e9s mais des ch\u00e9lic\u00e9rates, tout comme les araign\u00e9es ou les scorpions. Son sang a la particularit\u00e9 d’\u00eatre de couleur bleue\u00a0<\/span>du fait de la pr\u00e9sence d’h\u00e9mocyanine au lieu d’h\u00e9moglobine, il est employ\u00e9<\/span>\u00a0dans le domaine pharmaceutique pour tester l’absence d’endotoxines dans les m\u00e9dicaments.
