The history of Andromede in a few dates

 Why Andromede?

It comes from a little fish, the Andromeda Goby, sighted and photographed in the Cerbère Banyuls reserve just once at night by Laurent Ballesta in1998. By this singular dive, unique photo and scientific record, the name Andromede symbolises the ambition of a team to create and develop innovative interaction between science and image in the marine world.


A few dates:

January 2000: publication in the official gazette of the founding of the L’OEil d’Andromede society

February 2000: first contract with the Corsican office for the environment to develop an educational project

2000: first filming for the TV programme Ushuaia Nature

2003: first international contract for the Jordanian government and the Aqaba Marine Park with World Bank funding

2005: publication of the book “Planet Ocean” and display on the railings of the Luxembourg Gardens

2005: release of a documentary “The science of shark sex”

2007: bathymetry, mapping and analysis of marine biocenoses between Antibes and Monaco (70km)

2008: founding of the company Andromede Oceanology

2009: hundredth page published in Paris Match for an article on the state of the Mediterranean

2010: study of 6 Natura 2000 sites on the French Mediterranean coast

2010: move into new premises in Carnon
